KNOW YOUR ARTIST
Brenda J. Nachreiner
Artist
My art delves into the realm of abstract expressionism, serving as a visual diary of my subliminal self and reflecting my deepest passions, loves, and struggles. It is, undoubtedly, my best therapist. I prefer not to explain my work or its personal meaning; instead, I invite you to draw your own interpretations and connections. I work with various mediums including oil, oil and cold wax, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, pen and ink. I'm continually exploring new materials and methods to create marks, textures, and movement. Art has been my earliest form of self-expression, starting from when I was old enough to hold a pencil. I began formal art studies at the Oglebay Institute at age six, pursued private studies during high school, and majored in fine art at Westminster College. After college, I collaborated with another artist to create a line of functional pottery, while still dedicating time to painting. Despite a career path with many twists and turns, I've always maintained an active creative life. I've participated in numerous group, community, and solo exhibitions. In 2011, I returned to making art full time and at 68, I can genuinely say that I love what I do and I'm grateful for the successes I've achieved along the way.
