Heather Raquel Phillips

Artist


Heather Raquel Phillips (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist, independent curator and educator living and working in Philadelphia, Pa. Phillips earned their BFA with honors from Tyler School of Art and their MFA from The University of Pennsylvania, where they were the recipient of the Toby Devon Lewis Fellowship. Phillips currently lectures at The University of Pennsylvania and The Lincoln University.
Phillips' work has been featured in Hyperallergic, ArtForum.com, Title Magazine, Sixty (Inches From Center), ArtBlog and Philadelphia Gay News. She has received the
Leeway Foundation Art & Change (2017) and Transformation Grants (2020). She was
the 2019 Visiting Scholar at the Leather Archives & Museum, where she now serves as
board member. In 2020 she created a residential textile gallery called, "Pinch-hitter
Projects" which received funding by the Art is Essential Grant. Phillips was a 2022
Fabric Workshop and Museum Post-Grad Summer Apprentice and recently had their
writing published in The Black Scholar. They have exhibited in New York City, Chicago,
New Orleans, Philadelphia, Los Angeles and the U.K.
