Herb Ritts

Photographer

Herb Ritts began his photographic career in the late 70's, and quickly gained a reputation as a master of art and commercial photography. In addition to producing portraits and editorial fashion for Vogue, Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone and Interview, he also created successful advertising campaigns for Calvin Klein, Chanel, Donna Karan, Gap, Gianfranco Ferre, Gianni Versace, Giorgio Armani, Levi’s, Pirelli, Polo Ralph Lauren and Valentino among others. Ritts directed numerous influential and award-winning music videos and commercials. His fine art photography has been the subject of museum and gallery exhibitions worldwide, with his works residing in many significant public and private collections.

Herb Ritts passed away in 2002, from complications of AIDS.

The Herb Ritts Foundation promotes Herb’s great passion for photography and continues Herb's longstanding support for organizations that aid and care for those affected by HIV/AIDS.
