Jim Bove

Artist

Jim Bové is a practicing artist and educator living just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is a Professor at Penn West University and served as a board member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths (SNAG) and Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts. Jim has organized and curated several international exhibitions and lectures between the United States and Japan, including the cross-cultural exchange, Metalsmiths Linking.
He recently completed an artist residency in the Arctic Circle on board the tall-ship, Antigua. During the expedition, Jim created wearable and site-specific artwork incorporating the landscape.
His artwork has been featured in several books, including Lark Book’s 500 series, Humor in Craft, and in On Body and Soul: Contemporary Armor to Amulets. His artwork resides in collections in the United States, Japan, the Dominican Republic, and Malaysia and was awarded Honorable Mention in the 2013 Cheongju Craft Biennale, South Korea and was accepted into the prestigious 2015 Schmuck, Munich, Germany as well as the Taiwan International Metals Crafts Competition.
